I pictured myself wearing wide-brimmed Carmen Sandiego hats and flowing caftans to keep the sun’s rays at bay. But in reality, I sweated through a hooded anorak and jeans as I searched for more-lightweight options that would allow me to spend time outdoors without becoming burnt toast.
